SPORT OF NIUEDespite Niue being a small country, a number of different sports are popular. Rugby union is a popular sport played both by men and women; Niue were the 2008 FORU Oceania Cup champions. Netball is played only by women. There is a nine-hole golf course at Fonuakula. There is a lawn bowling green under construction. Football is popular as evidenced by the Niue Soccer Tournament.
