Brownsville
Brownsville is a city in the southernmost portion of the state of Texas, in the United States. It is located on the northern bank of the Rio Grande, directly north and across the border from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Brownsville is the 16th largest city in the state of Texas and the 3rd largest city on the border of Texas with Mexico on the U.S. border side. As of 2015, Brownsville counts with a population of 181,000. In addition, the Matamoros—Brownsville Metropolitan Area counts with a population of 1,136,995.
Brownsville is the principal city of the Brownsville–Harlingen Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the larger Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville Combined Statistical Area.
