Immigrants in Palau
Palau is an island country located in the western Pacific Ocean. It has a small population and a unique political and social structure. As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Palau had a relatively small immigrant population compared to other countries. Most immigrants in Palau are temporary workers, primarily from the Philippines and other Pacific Island nations.
Palau has a Compact of Free Association with the United States, which allows Palauan citizens to live and work in the United States, and vice versa. This agreement has facilitated some migration between the two countries.
The government of Palau has implemented certain immigration policies to control the influx of immigrants. These policies prioritize job opportunities for Palauan citizens and aim to protect the culture and environment of the islands.
